The shell | go to anatomy of the soft tissues |
The shell is oval, subglosely or globosely conic, with indented sutures. The shell colour varies from yellow-brown, brown to greenish-brown, with or without reddish or brownish spiral surface bands. The shell is narrowly umbilicate, and the surface is smooth with transverse growth lines and sometimes very light spiral striae. The latter can be seen in reflecting light on a wet shell. The lip is widely oval, the lip margin is rather straight.
The operculum is corneous, with a concentric structure and a nucleus near the parietal margin (close to the inner lip).
