Problem with login / odd character in username

Postby Blötdjur on Sat Aug 02, 2008 6:15 pm

I could not log in with my old account (tested with Solaris / Firefox, Windows XP / Firefox, Windows XP / IE, haven't tried with my Amigas yet :-)) and at the same time my old username got corrupted on the board.

My username has the odd character "ö", "o" with two dots above.

This is my new account with the same name as the old one had previously.

This is my old account, I could log in if I changed encoding from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1.

Firefox thinks it's the former, but it says the latter in the source code.

Strange! I thought it was just the font sets on my computer having trouble when I saw the problem before. Your original account has showed up with a "?" in it for some time now for me, but the ö shows up clearly in the new name. I think this might be a question for Stijn.

This stuff would also explain why I've had trouble trying to PM you...I had a periwinkle question for you and I kept getting a non-existent user error message when I tried to send it to you.

The mysql database is ISO-8859-1, not utf-8. It is a old database and mysql once used iso-8859-1

OK jonfr.

It seems this problem disappeared some time ago!

But I am curious about your periwinkle question Donya :-)
