when you save the picture you have to change the file type a jpeg usually works best

OK, I'm really frustrated now I downloaded the recommended irfanview thingy for resizing pics, and after a very long time I finally figured out how to get my pics smaller. Then when I went to add them to a post, it wouldn't accept them! It said someting about a bmp (whatever that is). Does anyone have any suggestions to get it to work? I'm very computer-challenged, so laymans terms would be very beneficial. Thanks!

I hate Irfanview to be honest. The last time I used it, every photo of mine turned into bmp format instead and bmp is rejected in several hosting sites. Try uploading via photobucket.com but pics bigger than 800 pixels will take much longer to download. Your other alternative is http://imageshack.us. When you download using most hosting sites, you need to make sure it is jpeg, gif or jpg format since all three are often acceptable.

Thanks for the info Lupin. I didn't realize when I saved the resized pics that I had to change it to jpeg, it just automattically put in the other format. I'm not very good at this whole computer thing, but I learn new thing everyday thanks to all you guys!

I upload photos to photobucket for posting on forums--it has a resizin6 tool built in. You can also use the basic "paint" program that comes with windows to resize.
