Pila (Thailand)?

Postby wolf1 on Sat Apr 07, 2012 12:00 pm

Hi,
I’m thinkin’ about the pictured shell, found dead in the south of Thailand, Prov. Krabi, at the shore of a large pond in Krabi Town, 18.12.2005. Hight of shell: 59,94 mm, width 56,83 mm. Brown-olive bandings very weak. Spire low, sutures scarcely impressed (see figs. 3 and 4). Might be Pila ampullacea or Pila angelica?
Thanks for your trouble......: wolf

Stijn is more familiar with apple snail species around the world, while I'm more familiar with the common ones in the aquarium trade. Why don't you contact Stijn directly either through a PM or Stijn (at) applesnail (dot) net.
