Some Red Sea snails

Postby Blötdjur on Sun Feb 24, 2008 2:19 am

I asked for algae from the Red Sea, but I was also brought some snails... So far I have seen one big nerite (I'm very impressed :-)) and one small whelk.

One more nerite. This snail is crazy. It seems to be the same species as the big nerite. Snail count: 3

It was moving so fast and waving it's tentacles like it was speaking sign language fast. It still moves pretty fast, but it has cooled down.

I have seen one more snail of about 2 mm.. It's white and the shell is triangular from the side. 4 snails.

There are other small animals and the sides of the glass has become spotted with small things, mainly white. Maybe it's some kinds of larvae or juvenile animals.

I messed about with the tank and changed some water and the little nerite got crazy again :-)

These nerites are cute, funny and speedy, and they have thick pretty shells.

The small triangular snail is growing well. Maybe it is a turbo snail or something. It is about 5 mm.. Apparently it has many tentacles!

There are little flat, white discs moving around slowly, anybody have any idea what it can be?

One little interesting snail with a mainly dark shell about 2 mm. and a dark body peaking out about 1 mm. was seen on a rock in turbulence! Snail count: 6 It has two little tentacles.

I have a lot of macro algae in a bucket so it will not foul the water in my big jar.
