Snails in America

I have a project in my first year GIS class and I wanted to map where apple snails live in in the US, and at what rate they have spread and/or are spreading.

So, basically it comes down to three questions:

Where are apple snails in the states?
What type of land do they prefer?
How fast do they reproduce?

I was having difficulty finding scientific articles to answer these questions, so I was hoping that someone would be able to point me in the right direction. I think their had been an article saying where apple snails are in the states, but I wasn't sure how recent it was (and I was having trouble finding it on the site).

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
