I have decided there are three basic colors: Green, Brown, and Blue. The blues are the least common and the megenta colors I have seen in juviniles does not seem to carry on to adulthood.

The striping pattern is extremely random and is more present on some than on others.

The two whitish shells in the bottom left are older shells where the color layer has worn and was baked by the sun.

Just a bad photo. Because there water conditions are more constant than in a tank environment they do tend to grow a bit more clean.
