snail killied in movie

This is a sad post, but I thought I'd let everyone know...I recently watched a strange movie called "Mean Creek" and during the movie a little girl stabs a land snail with a pocket knife, I couldn't believe it. I was disgusted. I'm not sure if the snail was actually harmed, but it was so realistic that I don't know how they could have rigged it. Anyone else see this movie? :cry:

I think they used a real one. I've been googling it for a while, but I can't find anything concrete. That's BS... and not my initials.
