I only went in there today to follow up on the condition of their snails. Two weeks ago when I was there they had some gouramis in with the snails and were picking at them. All the snails were holed up and not moving. I wrote the corporate office a letter and they responded that they would notify the store of the situation and were sorry for my inconvenience

I wanted to see if they moved the fish. The fish were gone and it looked like they stuck a plastic plant in there (I also told them the snails had nowhere to hide from the fish). Thinking at least they were making an effort, I thought I'd buy a few snails. So I flag the clerk over, she was less than thrilled. She dunks a big net into the tank and starts knocking the other snails out of the way with it to get to the one I wanted. Since they weren't very active, they were bouncing in all directions. I told her to please be careful. She ignored me. I asked if I could pick the snails out myself and she said I wasn't allowed. She continued to dunk out the other snail, being very rough. I told her again to be careful and she said it wouldn't hurt them. I told her "yes, it could. It could chip their shells. " She then started copping an attitude and asked if I wanted anything else. I chose a few more snails from another tank, and she again used the net roughly - out of spite I'm sure, and was sloshing water all over the floor. I think she might've netted up a tetra in her rage, the poor thing.
So I get the snails home, and after letting the bag rest in the water for awhile I take them out. The blue snail had a huge hole in its shell!

I don't know if it happened when she netted it or not, but it sure looks like a fresh hole to me. I didn't see any shell pieces in the bag so it didn't happen on the way home. At first its tentacle was poking out for a bit. Then it was inactive. I madly started researching patching holes on here and realized I had to give it a try. I used eggshell and crazy glue, and coated it with nail polish. I let it dry as long as I dared, because it had been out a long time already. I just put it back in the tank a few minutes ago. It's still very far up in its shell. I'm worried it won't make it. I did the best I could.
I took pictures and I'm going to write Petsmart's corporate office again tomorrow. I'm done with that store for good. We have no LFS in town either, so I'll have to buy stuff online from now on. Why did I go in there?
I just had to vent. Please think good thoughts for the poor little snail.
